🥇 Dr. Mohamad Nizam Receives “Golden Medal of Honour and Merit” from IMACSSS Poland

GM Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie, an internationally recognized scholar in Silat, martial arts research, and combat sports science, was awarded the distinguished “Golden Medal of Honour and Merit” by the International Martial Arts and Combat Sports Scientific Society (IMACSSS) during its global congress held in Rzeszow, Poland.

This highest-level international recognition celebrates Dr. Nizam's outstanding contribution to the development, dissemination, and academic elevation of traditional Malay martial arts, particularly Silat Melayu, on the world stage. The award acknowledges not only his innovative work in martial arts education but also his leadership in global Silat diplomacy, academic publishing, and international collaboration.

The award ceremony was attended by global martial arts scholars, policy makers, and institutional leaders, where Dr. Nizam was honored for his role in building a scientific foundation for Silat as a recognized combat sport and academic discipline. His pioneering efforts include leading UiTM’s AIRBORNE research network, publishing numerous scholarly works, and serving as the President of IMACSSS 2020 and 2024 Conferences, including the upcoming edition in Malaysia.

The Golden Medal of Honour and Merit reflects the peak of scholarly distinction conferred by IMACSSS and positions Dr. Nizam as one of the foremost figures in martial arts research globally. It further strengthens Malaysia’s leadership in Southeast Asian martial traditions and highlights the significance of Silat as both cultural heritage and sport science.
